The Nikon ProStaff 7 Binocular
Nikon has introduced a new binocular that will rival all of it's competitors in this price range. Those birders out there that know of the Monarch should check out this piece. While the Prostaff 7 does perform on a different level, the glass is superb and the image is bright even without dielectric coatings.
The longer barrels make for easy handling for larger hands, but the barrels are thinner than the Monarch, for example, so smaller hands can easily grip the binocular without having issues reaching the focus wheel.
The lenses are fully multi-coated meaning the birder will get maximum light transmission. The protective, rubber grip that the Prostaff 7 provides makes this a comfortable optic to use in wet weather and other odd environments us birders find ourselves in. Of course, you could use this in precipitation because the barrels are nitrogen-purged to protect against moisture seepage. The long eye-relief is great for anyone wearing eye-glasses and the lightweight build doesn't weigh you down. Make sure to check this binocular out next time you are visiting a Nikon Dealer.
I had a chance to use this binocular recently in the field and was amazed at the view for just under $200 retail. I recommend it as an option if the budget is low. Remember, with Nikon, you will always be protected with our 25-year No-Fault Policy and Lifetime Limited Manufacturer's Warranty.
Thanks for reading and good birding to all.
